What is Double Sophie?
Double Sophie is Sophie's Pick played across two community boards. You still lock three pairs from six cards and sacrifice one pair after the flops and one after the turns.
The same final pair is available on both boards. Each board is evaluated separately using both surviving hole cards, one, or neither. Never combine boards. Each eligible pot is split equally between the boards.
Pot-Limit, 2-7 players; a good next step once Sophie's Pick feels familiar.
Starting cards
6 private cards. Build and lock THREE custom two-card pairs. TWO community boards.
How to play
- Lock pairs, then preflop betting.
- Deal two flops. First Sophie Pick: sacrifice one complete pair, then flop betting.
- Deal two turns. Final Sophie Pick: sacrifice one remaining pair, then turn betting.
- Deal two rivers, then river betting and showdown.
Special rules
Once locked, pairs cannot be rearranged. Sacrificed pairs are permanently dead. Only cards from the final surviving pair remain eligible at showdown.
Showdown
The SAME final surviving pair is available on BOTH boards. Make your best five-card hand on each board independently using both surviving hole cards, one hole card, or play that board. Never combine boards or use sacrificed cards.
Pot distribution
Each eligible pot is divided equally between Board 1 and Board 2. Evaluate each separately. Win one board, tie, or scoop both.

Common mistakes
- Combining cards from both boards: each board is evaluated on its own and boards are never mixed.
- Expecting to pick a different pair for each board: the same surviving pair plays both.
- Assuming the whole pot goes to one hand: every eligible pot is divided equally between Board 1 and Board 2, so you can win one board, tie, or scoop both.
- Rearranging pairs after locking, or expecting a sacrificed pair to return; both are impossible.
