What is 2-7 Triple Draw?
2-7 Triple Draw is a lowball draw game with no community board. You receive five private cards and draw up to three times, discarding 0-5 cards each time or standing pat.
The lowest Deuce-to-Seven hand wins the whole pot. The Ace is high, and straights, flushes and pairs all count against you, so the best possible hand is 7-5-4-3-2 without a flush.
Fixed-Limit, 2-6 players, with the big bet after the second and third draws.
Starting cards
5 private cards. No community board. 2-6 players.
How to play
- Initial betting, then draw 1.
- Bet, then draw 2.
- Bet, then draw 3.
- Final betting and showdown. Discard 0-5 cards per draw; zero is Stand Pat.
Fixed limit
Small bet equals the big blind: initial round and after draw 1. Big bet is twice that: after draws 2 and 3. Each round allows one bet and three raises, including heads-up; the pre-draw big blind counts as the opening bet.
Showdown
Lowest Deuce-to-Seven hand wins. Ace is high. Straights, flushes and pairs count against you. Best is non-flush 7-5-4-3-2. Suits never break ties.
Hand rankings in 2-7 Triple Draw
Deuce-to-Seven Lowball
Best possible hand: 7-5-4-3-2, non-flush. Lowest hand wins.
Ace is HIGH. Straights, flushes, pairs, trips and other matched ranks count against you. Suits never break ties.
Among unpaired non-straight, non-flush hands, 7-low beats 8-low; 8-low beats 9-low. Compare highest cards first, then the next-highest, and so on. For example, 8-6-4-3-2 beats 8-7-4-3-2.
Common mistakes
- Drawing to a wheel: an unsuited A-2-3-4-5 is an Ace-high hand, not a straight; it loses to lower unpaired, non-straight, non-flush hands.
- Keeping a flush draw: a flush ruins a low hand; the best 7-5-4-3-2 must be non-flush.
- Expecting suits to break ties: suits never break ties in Deuce-to-Seven.
- Comparing low hands from the bottom up: compare the highest card first, so 8-6-4-3-2 beats 8-7-4-3-2.
